M30 Earthworks Microphone Replacement (#146)

The M30 G2 Earthworks microphones will fully replace M30 models in July 2026. This change comes as a result of the manufacturer phasing out the M30 in favor of the M30 G2.

Telestra Level D customers who have previously purchased the M30 microphone as part of the ASTi Level D hardware kit (PN: CH-LVLD) will receive the M30 G2 in the event of a refresh. The M30 G2 model is a form, fit, and function replacement—it serves the same purpose as the M30.

Significant differences between the models are as follows:

M30 M30 G2
Length 9.5" 8"
Frequency Response 3 Hz–30 Hz 5 Hz–30k Hz (±1 dB)
Sensitivity 34 mV/Pa 10 mV/Pa
Phantom Power Requirements 24 V–48 V 12 V–48 V
Weight 0.5 lbs 0.3 lbs

M30 G2 packaging differs from M30 packaging to account for the length difference between the models. Don’t be alarmed if you receive hardware in packaging that doesn’t match what was shown at purchase.

Length Comparison between M30 and M30 G2

To properly configure the M30 G2 for an ACU2 channel, set the input gain for the corresponding channel to +2 dB (M30) or +12 dB (M30 G2). You can adjust the input gain from the Telestra web interface under Network Devices > Hardware > ACU2s. Ensure the ACU2 and corresponding channel settings you’re modifying on the Telestra web interface match the ACU2 and corresponding channel to which you've connected the microphone. Go to “Network Devices” in the Telestra Web Interface User Guide for further information about modifying ACU2 channel input gain.

The simulator cockpit should precisely model a real aircraft’s cockpit. For simulator audio results to accurately emulate aircraft circumstances, microphone positioning must be precise. As listed above, the M30 G2 is shorter than the M30 by 1 ½ inches. This may impact microphone configuration, so continue adjusting the microphone to match your documented positioning.
