I can’t log into my RMS account. How can I reset my password?

If your Remote Management System (RMS) account is locked, you can reset the web interface password with a Linux user account. This procedure only applies to the web interface; to reset your Telestra Studio or Target credentials, see the following FAQ: I can’t log into my Telestra Target, Telestra Studio, or Voisus Server platform. How can I reset my account?

To reset the RMS password, follow these steps:

  1. Open a terminal on the associated Telestra Target.

  2. At the prompt, type root, and press Enter. Type the current root password, and press Enter again. The default password is abcd1234.

    Important: If your system uses ASTi’s Information Assurance (IA) software, log into the system as admin. The default password is admin.

  3. To navigate to the local ASTi user directory, type cd /usr/local/asti/etc, and press Enter.

  4. To reset the user credentials, type cp user.auth, and press Enter.

  5. To restart the system, type reboot, and press Enter. Upon reboot, the RMS account resets to use the default username of admin and password of astirules.
