    • Improve specific program component.
    • Tactical Data Link (TDL) now takes Crypto Settings into account when receiving and forwarding data. Radios with mismatched keys will not recieve data. Prior to this update, radios needed to be clear in order for TDL radios to correctly route data.
    • The maximum number of sounds was 2000, and was increased to 5000. In order to support this the XPOOLSIZE value defined in /usr/local/asti/sysconfig/soundd.ini must be increased to some larger value from the default of 20000000. The exact value needed will be a function of the sound file durations, but may require at least double or more. Once this value has been set reboot the system for the change to take effect. This configuration file is not saved as part of a system backup. It is a manual step after a cold-start. Use the following values within the Health System for guidance:
    Top>Sound>SoundUsRXpool
    - Transmit Free Pages (if this reaches 0, then things stop working, so non-zero here)
    - Transmit Pages (reports the current total allocated)

    Windows® 1.7.4-37451
    Linux 1.7.4-37451
    Voisus VBS Add-in 0.3-37451

    New version in this release.

    Enhancements

    • Added support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7.
    • Added the Pulse Sequence component to Telestra software model environment.
    • Added the ability to handle raw ethernet data.

    Fixes/Improvements

    • Enhanced URC-200 Remote Control functionality to use a longer polling mechanism with a smarter serial communication algorithm so that serial noise is suppressed.
    • Improved the intuitiveness of the Open Project window.
    • Previous versions of Telestra stored the Durus database under the /tmp directory. The "tmpwatch" process could potentially remove the database if there was no activity for a 10 day period. This would cause the next layout install to crash Durus, requiring a reboot to fix the problem. The Durus database is now stored under /var/local/asti. There are additional checks for database errors and Durus is restarted.
    • Resync FAA constants for background noise. Future changes can be tested/deployed by editing the file: /usr/local/asti/leveld/faa_bg_noise_constants.ini
    • Added time and date of the capture of the source data to the spectral analysis plot generation documents.
    • Added a fix for thin clients with common access to a radio to share sidetone.
    • The buffers in question are used for storing received audio. When a receiver goes out of tune, the resampler buffers are not cleaned up. When the receiver goes in-tune again, new buffers are allocated. The size of the leak is based on the hold-off time. With a default hold-off of 25 ms, there will be 50KB of memory lost every time a receiver re-tunes.
    • Custom component improvements.
    • Added a fix for the UDP daemon to receive packets over loopback.
    • After deleting a project, the user is now taken to the project list page. Previously, hitting refresh after deleting a project would attempt to delete the same project again.
    • Added a fix for the "nuance-licmgr" install error message.
    • Added a fix for soundfiles that have end points greater than the WAV file.
    • Added a fix for "ace-create-mirror" which was failing if ISO mount point is removed.
    • Added a fix for thin client on Windows® Vista/7 which was muting speakers with certain headsets.
    • Added a helper modification to support a custom component.
    • Previous versions of ANZAC attempted to resolve the first IPv6 address found. If the reverse-lookup of the hostname failed, the IPv6 address was used as the hostname. This resulted in IPv4 mDNS errors. ANZAC now loops through each network interface and attempts to perform a reverse-lookup. If this fails it continues to the next interface. If all interfaces fail, ANZAC defaults to the "socket.gethostbyname()" hostname.
    • Added a fix for Vox using thin client on Windows® Vista.
    • Added a fix for thin client headset presets.
    • Improved the Cold Start install script.

    New version in this release.

    Enhancements

    • The Studio project manager now contains a 'Bookmarks' toolbar that keeps a user defined list of IPv4 Telestra server addresses. Users can add or remove addresses from the project manager.
      • The addresses will be continuously polled for projects that can be managed in the same way that the Auto-Discover tab allows.
      • The Bookmarks provide an alternative for users who are unable to use multicast DNS to provide auto-discover capabilities.
    • Removed the 'Resource Usage' fields under the Realtime Executive page in the Telestra web interface, which are mainly used for debugging.
    • In 4.31 software, if a USB headset was removed from the Voisus Client PC and then re-inserted, the Voisus application would not work. Now when the USB headset is unplugged and plugged back in again, the Voisus application continues to operate properly in Windows® XP, Vista, and Win7 operating systems.
    • Added more detail to the Telestra web interface Download Page for supported operating systems.
    • Turned off the CFI logging by default.
    • Added DIS routing from one interface to another.

    Fixes/Improvements

    • Fixed the radio receive intone issue which occurred during intercom to radio net transition. i.e. When you tune from an intercom net to a radio net the radio net did not receive audio.
    • Voisus audio sample rate is now properly set.
    • Added the ability for multiple Telestra servers to share ACU2s in more configurations.
    • Fixed the HHT channel helper type to automatically generate the HHT_Activity model, which drives the HHT LED during transmit/receive. The problem is encountered on older Synapse Workstation models (prior to revision H) when changing the name of the default channels helper.
    • Improved the overall stability of the scope application.
    • A new command line tool can be used to see the Max, Peak, and Average time for each of the 16 services that run on the Telestra. This can be used to detect which part of the software is most responsible for the loading on a device. The times shown are in microseconds.
    • To run the tool enter 'rtexec_status' from the command line. To reset all of the counters use the command 'rtexec_reset'.
    • Improved display of the DIS information in the Telestra web interface.
    • Fixed an error that occured in the Telestra web interface when rebooting a Telestra server in certain network configurations.
    • Fixed Readiness Layout to work with Open URL IP address.
    • Added 'Radio Name In' field to the Transceiver component.
    • Fixed the lost beat packets with a 10/100 connection.
    • The Commplan editor will now enforce certain sample rate restrictions depending on the Telestra server's version.
    • Fixed realtime crash when the comm plan specifies invalid sample rates.
    • Removed the requirement for users to specify the '-c' parameter in the query-terrain-server tool.
    • IIR filter min frequencies were adjusted to ensure stability. The following components are effected:
      • Audio/AmpMod
      • Audio/Envelope
      • Audio/Filter
      • Audio/NoiseSource
      • Audio/Vox
      • EnvCue/Engine
      • EnvCue/EngineLevelD
      • EnvCue/JetEngine
      • EnvCue/PropLevelD
      • EnvCue/PropRotor
      • P8/ScanTransceiver
      • Radio/FxTransceiver
      • Radio/Radio
      • Radio/Transceiver
      • Speech/SpeechFeed

In those components, the min highpass frequency was raised from 1 Hz to 50 Hz. The min frequency for other filter types (lowpass, etc.) remains 1 Hz.

If a highpass with a very low frequency is needed, use the EnvCue/MultiFilter component instead, which now has a min frequency of 2 Hz for all filter types.

    • Host packets now allow offsets up to 1471 and overall packet sizes of up to 1472 bytes. The Host packet editor will check these constraints and highlight any offending entries for the user.

    Linux 1.7.2-37206
    Voisus VBS Add-in 0.3-37206

    New version in this release.

    Enhancements

    • Added a reference table to the Telestra web interface ACENet section for comparing ACENet gain values across different device types. Added support for ALE.
    • Added the ability to set additional DIS parameters for entity type record and input source.
    • Added support for RedHat® Enterprise Linux® operating system 5.6.
    • Enhanced the Telestra web interface ACENet pages for ACUs and ACU2s for usability.
    • Added a reset button for the counters on the Telestra web interface ACENet page.
    • Added the automatic reset of ACENet counters after completing a layout installation.
    • Added Telestra web interface Health ACENet statistics for troubleshooting.
    • Added common ACENet error messages in Telestra web interface for increased troubleshooting.
    • Updated the Terrain server configuration by removing the requirement to an address.
    • Added a custom program-specific comm panel component.

    Fixes/Improvements

    • Enhanced the 'post-delay' sound file option to accept entries in units of seconds, which should be easier to work with than the previous units (realtime execution frames). Some values will 'snap' to a different value so that they align with valid time intervals in the realtime framework.
    • When powering on a Crown Amp following a layout installation the user can expect up to a 2 minute delay before the amplifier is fully configured in the Telestra environment. Monitor the ACENet page and when the amplifiers "Status" has changed from a red X to a green check the amplifier is fully configured and ready for use.
    • Looped sound files now loop more naturally. Previously, if a sound file was not date so that the start of the loop fell exactly on a 64-sample segment it could potentially 'click' between loops. Start and end offsets are now linkable and adjustable inputs to the PlaySound component. These allow realtime control of the start and end positions of a play sound. The sound must be buffered for this to work.
    • If a "Device Timeout" message is received while updating the firmware of an ACENet device, power cycle that device and re-try the update. Older versions of firmware report "ARM timeout". ACU2 firmware versions 2.10 or later and ACE-RIU firmware versions 2.7 or later, show the "Device Timeout" message if there is an issue during update.
    • Removed a verbose and unnecessary log message from being printed to the Telestra server log when a user clicks through the sound repo editor GUI in Studio.
    • Added a fix for changing the radio bus names in the Intercom bus service which was previously creating unnecessary duplicates.
    • Added a fix for duplicate hostname support.
    • Added the ability to handle a larger number of ACENet channels. This number may vary depending on system configuration.
    • Added a fix for setting specific configurations of the DIS Gateway INI which caused the Studio Domain and Radio helpers to incorrectly report site and host IDs.
    • Fixed the loud pops caused by lost beat packets on heavily loaded Telestra servers.
    • Added a fix for missing ACENet devices after re-generating the Studio readiness layout.
    • Fixed a bug in the playsound that cause long sounds to play twice if the buffer was not set to true.
    • Added a fix to the ramp up counter for noise caused after 33 days.
    • Added a fix for the Terrain server extended responses.
    • Improved Telestra web interface Show Projects page for usability.
    • Added an additional argument to the terrain server query tool to be able to specify the client interface. If interface is not specified, it defaults to eth0.
    • Added a fix for the Telestra web interface ACENet page which when viewed caused the CPU usage to spike.

    • Fixed the Satellite component to listen without a local radio on the same domain.
    • Fixed the Satellite component to allow the transmitter and audio to be sent out of the Telestra over the DIS network.
    • Fixed the error in Telestra web interface when restarting software after successfully uploading a license file.
    • Fixed issue causing very slow project install on the Telestra server.
    • Improved upsampling and downsampling in the radioenvironment minimizes aliasing artifacts in radio transmissions.
    • Fixed the HF Server statistics for when the HF server component is configured as a server. See the Telestra web interface Health pages under Radio Networking > DIS > Statistics.
    • Added a fix for large Voisus Server installations (upwards of 32 operators) any operators which were configured with many radios (more than 8) would fail to connect due to a message being too large. This issue has been resolved, but as a result, breaks Voisus Client backwards compatibility between 4.30 and earlier software versions. Any Voisus Server systems upgraded to 4.30 will also need to update their Voisus Client software.
    • Improved Windows Voisus client latency.
    • Fixed the Receiver retuning on PWR only change.
    • Fixed the 5 Band Filter parameter states that were flipped in 4.29 software version. The default Value and Modifier states for the EnableN controls in the 5BandFilter component have changed to TRUE and TRUE, respectively.

      Important:

Models that used the 5 Band Filter component in Telestra software version 4.29 might be affected by these changes. For example, if the user has previously set the Modifier state and the control was not HOST driven, the Result will be flipped. Likewise if the control was HOST driven but the modifier was not set, the Result will also be flipped. The user is encouraged to double check these values after applying this software.

    ACU2 Firmware Note

The following procedure is recommended to maximize firmware upgrade reliability. There are a few initial conditions that must be setup to ensure a smooth firmware upgrade.

First, you must install a project and layout that includes all ACENet devices connected to the Telestra server. Follow the steps below to do this.

    1. Using Studio, open a project on the Telestra server connected to the ACENet device(s).
    2. The layout running in Studio must include all of the ACU2s that are getting upgraded. One way to do this is to create a readiness model, this ensures that your layout includes the connected ACU2s. In the menu bar select "Layout" and "Add Readiness." Overwrite any previous readiness layouts if prompted.
    3. Select the readiness layout and then click "Install Project."

Follow the ACU2 firmware update instructions in the Telestra web interface. If upgrading more than one ACU2, only initialize a maximum of two ACU2s into boot mode. After a pair is complete, boot them in to normal mode. Repeat this cycle until all ACU2s are upgraded.

    Telestra 4.29-36681 Release Notes

    Released: November 22, 2010

This software release supports the following base operating systems:

    OS Version
    RHEL 5.4

ASTi audio and I/O distribution devices use the following firmware version with this software release:

    Hardware Device Firmware Version
    ACU 2.1
    ACE-RIU 2.4
    ACU2 (ACU2-04-02) 2.6

ASTi Voisus Clients use the following versions with this software release:

    Voisus Client Version
    Windows® 1.6.6-36681
    Linux 1.6.6-36681

    New version in this release.

    Enhancements

    • TDDI enhancements to support ORTT ancillary radios. The DDI component now has 4 additional inputs (KPin1 - KPin4) to support a 4x4 keypad device. The pins required for a keypad connection ARE NOT exposed externally in the 2U DDI device and require opening up the DDI housing. If you have a keypad requirement for the DDI contact ASTi support to discuss the details. Opening up the device without prior discussion will void the warranty.
    • The Health System's Platform Info > Processor entry now has a 'Realtime Priority' field that checks that the Telestra real-time process is running with the expected priority level. If the HLA_DACS option is enabled, an error will never be flagged by this health item.
    • Added support for a remote DIS gateway. This new feature allows a Telestra, or group of Telestras, to use a DIS gateway located on another Telestra. For simulations with many Telestras, it's useful to a have a LAN that's using ASTiNet among the Telestra servers, and then a single gateway box that goes out HLA/DIS. This way only a single Telestra needs to know about federations, RTIs, DIS networking parameters, etc.
    • Added DIS PDU relative timestamp format.
    • Increased the maximum DIS TDL signal PDU data payload size from 1400 bytes to 1440 bytes - the latter being the limit on the ASTi DACS.
    • Added PEERDNS setting to Telestra web interface network configuration.
    • Telestra server iSCSI remote disk cold-start installation support has been added with this software release. Previous versions of Telestra software allowed a user to use iSCSI to access a SAN array for additional storage. This feature allows the Telestra 4.29 installation to be done directly to an iSCSI Target LUN. In iSCSI terminology the Telestra server is the iSCSI initiator and the Telestra 4.29 software is installed to an iSCSI Server Logical Unit Number (LUN). For installation details, refer to the Telestra server cold-start guide.
    • Added the ability to allow special characters in the Telestra web interface password.
    • Added an enhancement for authenticating system power actions.
    • Updated the bus viewer signals to sort alphabetically in list.
    • Added an enhancement for the HLA daemon to initalize after project install when the HLA project is not default.
    • Telestras using HLA can now be set up to auto-join their federation. When this feature is enabled, the Telestra federate will try to join the federation immediately after the layout is installed. This can be turned on and off in the "Advanced Parameters" of the HLA section of the Domain.
    • Added counters for the number of valid/invalid DIS mappings in the health system. New health entries include: Top > Radio Networking > DIS > Statistics > Invalid Id received and Top > Radio Networking > DIS > DIS id Mappings.
    • Added filtering for the Telestra web interface System Networking page.

    Fixes/Improvements

    • Added a fix to the radio environment for ignoring invalid DIS ID's.
    • Added a fix for the "crypto only" flag in the Transceiver under the crypto section.
    • Fixed running "Live Capture" which was consuming CPU.
    • Added a fix for ACENet device(s) specifically ACU2s that do not always appear in health system.
    • Fixed a potential bug in the Relay component.
    • Disabled the Infiniband kernel modules for iSCSI support.

MarkerTone Enhancements May Cause Compatibility Issues

Telestra 4.23 software release contains two enhancements for the Radio/MarkerTone component which are not fully backward compatible with existing models. MarkerTone components used in models created in software versions prior to 4.23 will not operate correctly on a 4.23 or later software release.

    Part I MarkerTone Modifier

The modifier for this variable was changed from "multiplication" to "addition" which allows the component to work using default settings. The marker ident selector input (previously called "Number") was changed to the more descriptive "IdentIndex".

Use the following procedure to use your Radio/MarkerTone components with 4.23 or later software.

    1. Open your Load Viewer and go to each folder in your model which has a MarkerTone component.
    2. Select the "Links" tab, and you should see one red entry with a Destination Var of "Number" for each MarkerTone component in the folder.
    3. Note the Source, Source Var, and Destination.
    4. Recreate this link using the Link Editor (i.e. middle-click on the Source component) but this time, the Destination Var (called "Signal" in the Link Editor) should be "IdentIndex" instead of "Number."
    5. Return to the "Links" tab in the Load Viewer and right-click and delete the red link.
    6. One final but optional change (for each MarkerTone) is to right-click and delete the InitVar for the "Number_modifier_mul" which will also be red in the "InitVars" tab. The component will operate correctly with the obsolete/red InitVar, but it will look better with the update.

    Part II MarkerTone Timing

In software releases prior to 4.23, the inter-character timing for the Radio/MarkerTone component was normal Morse keyer timing (i.e. 3 dot gaps between ident characters) instead of the correct marker tone timing (i.e. 1 dot gap between ident characters and 2 after the last ident character).

To prevent possible problems with the operation of a Radio/MarkerTone component in an existing model (software versions prior to 4.23), a new boolean input called "StrictTiming" was added to the Radio/MarkerTone component. This input defaults to True which selects the shorter inter-character gaps which are correct for a Radio/MarkerTone component. Setting the boolean "StrictTiming" to False will cause the component to use the relaxed Morse keyer timing which was used in software releases prior to the 4.23 software release.
